VOLUNTEER AT THE 2017 OPEN WATER SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Great! What roles can I do?

Videographer
 
We’re looking for volunteers who love creating videos. Whether it’s recording the action in the water, interviews with our athletes or gathering content for the future, this is a great way to bring our event to life and for you to gain experience filming at a national sporting event.
 
For this role, we’ll need you to have some experience in video filming and editing, access to your own equipment and a few examples to show us.  You’ll also need a current Working with Children check.
 
Times available:
Thursday 26 Jan:                                     10.00am – 12.00pm & 2.30pm – 4.00pm
Friday 27 Jan – Sunday 29 Jan:             6.30am – 11.30am & 11.30am – 4.00pm
 
Social Media Assistant
 
We’re looking for volunteers who can help tell our event story over social media. Whether it’s live tweeting results or curating moments for Instagram and Facebook, this is a great way to bring our fans right in to the heart of the action and for your posts to be seen by nearly quarter of a million people.
 
For this role, previous social media experience would be an advantage. We’ll need you to have strong writing skills, great attention to detail, and be friendly, confident and organised. You’ll also need a current Working with Children check.
 
Times available:
Thursday 26 Jan:                                     10.00am – 12.00pm & 2.30pm – 4.00pm
Friday 27 Jan – Sunday 29 Jan:             6.30am – 11.30am & 11.30am – 4.00pm
 
Writer
 
We’re looking for volunteers who can craft an amazing story. Whether it’s writing stories for our website, transcribing athlete interviews or helping prepare our press releases, this is a vital role to help reach local, national and international media outlets.
 
For this role, previous writing experience would be an advantage. We’ll need you to have an interest in sports journalism, strong writing skills, great attention to detail, and be friendly, confident, organised and able to work under pressure. You’ll also need a current Working with Children check.
 
Times available:
Thursday 26 Jan:                                     10.00am – 12.00pm & 2.30pm – 4.00pm
Friday 27 Jan – Sunday 29 Jan:             6.30am – 11.30am & 11.30am – 4.00pm
 
Event Assistant
 
We’re looking for all-rounders who are willing to take on a varied role. Whether it’s helping to install signage or post-race athlete processing, this is a vital hands-on role that makes sure our event runs smoothly.
 
For this role, you don’t need any previous experience. We just need you to be confident, show initiative and have great problem solving skills, and have an interest in gaining event experience. You’ll also need a current Working with Children check.
 
This is a hands-on role, and some manual labour may be required.

Wednesday 25 Jan:                                 10.00am – 1.00pm
Thursday 26 Jan:                                     10.00am – 12.00pm & 2.30pm – 4.00pm
Friday 27 Jan – Sunday 29 Jan:             6.30am – 11.30am & 11.30am – 4.00pm
 
Accreditation Assistant
 
We’re looking for volunteers with great people skills who can meet and greet individuals, issue them with their accreditation pass and tell them where they need to go. This is a great way to interact with athletes and our wider swimming community, and gain event management skills at the same time.
 
For this role, you don’t need any previous experience.  We just need you to be friendly, confident and organised, and have an interest in gaining event experience.  You’ll also need a current Working with Children check.
 
Times available:
Thursday 26 Jan:                                     10.00am – 12.00pm & 2.30pm – 4.00pm
Friday 27 Jan – Sunday 29 Jan:             5.30am – 10.30am & 10.30am – 3.30pm
