Rio Olympic Aquatics Stadium

The Olympic Aquatics Stadium will be the stage for swimming competitions for the Olympics and Paralympics, with capacity for 14,997 people to cheer on the competitors.
 
It is located in Barra da Tijuca, approximately 5km’s from the athlete village. It has two indoor swimming pools, one for racing and one for warm-up.
 
Construction for the venue began in 2013 with the exterior designed by local Brazilian artist, Adriana Varejão. It is a temporary structure and will be dismantled after the Games with all parts reused for local schools and the building of two new aquatics venues.
