Hancock Prospecting 2014 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships Open Water Competition

Overview

The Open Water component of the Hancock Prospecting 2014 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships will be held on Monday 25 August at the Southport Marine Stadium, located in the beautiful Gold Coast Broadwater precinct. The Southport Marine Stadium is a partially enclosed, protected water body, and sits directly off the Southport Spit, which separates the Southport Broadwater from the Pacific Ocean. Course Layout

The 10km event will comprise of five laps of a 2km course. The course is accessible from the northern end, and a precinct will be set-up in this area for registration, OC headquarters, toilets/change rooms, and medical.

Water Temperature

Average sea temperature in the area for August is generally between 19⁰C (66⁰F) and 22⁰C (70⁰F), with current temperatures slightly above yearly averages (22⁰C, 70⁰F).

Water temperature taken from various locations at the venue on Friday 4 July averaged 20.1⁰C (68.2⁰F)

Event 35 - Men’s 10km Elite     
Registration   9.00am
Race Start   10.00am

 

Event 36 - Women’s 10km Elite     
Registration   9.00am
Race Start    10.05am

*there is no course for warm up on race day                                                                                          

Ticketing

There will be no ticketing for the event, with the course open to the general public for viewing.

Parking

Parking is available in the car park off Muriel Henchmen Drive, and at the end of SeaWorld Drive. There is no charge for parking at the event.
