Swimming Australia Centre of Excellence

A Swimming Australia Ltd (SAL) Centre of Excellence provides a world-class environment with the best coaching for Australia’s most talented and best-performing swimmers. These centres assist Australian swimmers and coaches to be world leaders in competitive swimming.

SAL has invested in nine Centres of Excellence (COEs) around Australia to help achieve Australia’s Olympic and Paralympic ambitions. 

COEs receive:

• SAL COE recognition and branding rights
• significant financial contribution to its operational expenses
• support from SAL to assist in planning, recruitment, discussions with potential partners, advocacy in discussions with facility owners, managers and operators
• enhanced development opportunities for athletes and coaches at all stages of the competitive pathway
• assistance to retain high performance coaches whilst providing opportunities to nurture and develop coaches in a structured program.

The enhancement of high performance centres coupled with high performance coaching and support staff will provide our sport with the structure, stability and knowledge to continue producing world-class athletes well into the future. This is a key step in ensuring Australia remains a world leader in swimming.
