Sporting Schools

About the Programme

Sporting Schools is a Federal Government programme that aims to get more Australian children healthy and active. Kicking off in Term 3 2015, Sporting Schools will become Australia’s largest school sport participation programme to develop pathways from school to community and club sport.

The $100 million Australian Government programme will help bring together local sports clubs, coaches and schools across Australia to help kids develop a lifelong interest in sport and develop pathways from school to club and community swimming programs.

Sporting Schools was developed in partnership with Swimming Australia and other national sporting bodies to ensure quality sporting programmes are accessible and fun for kids.

Swimming Australia, in partnership with State Associations and swimming and water safety industry partners, will provide the support and resources required to promote this programme. The programme has the ability to enhance water confidence and safety, along with strengthening foundation swimming skills for more than 850,000 primary school children.
