This past week from May 14 to 17, 31 Para-Sport swimmers descended on the Runaway Bay Super Sports Centre on the Gold Coast for the 2018 Para Relay Camp.
With just seven weeks to go until the 2018 Hancock Prospecting Pan Pacific Championship Trials, the camp provided a great opportunity for prospective Para Pan Pacs team members to come together and bond as well as take part in vital performance analysis, testing and information sessions.
The camp, which was set up to review, discuss and practice relays, was one of Jan Cameron’s lasting legacy’s in the sport after the Para Mentor Coach initiated the idea before her sudden passing.
The Australian Dolphins Swim Team has a rich history in relays and camps like these ensure they continue to remain an important strategic focus for High Performance.
In London 2012 the Aussie team medalled in every relay which included three gold and one bronze, in Rio the team won one gold, two silver and two bronze relay medals and made the finals for all relays, while in Tokyo two more relays will be added, taking the total to seven possible podium finishes, making it a priority for medal rankings and results for the team moving forward.
