MacLeod Honoured for Services to Swimming

Swimming Australia extends its sincere congratulations to leading official Karen MacLeod OAM, as her more than three decades worth of selfless contributions to the sport have today been recognised as part of the Australia Day Honours List.

Karen was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for her services to swimming.

Swimming Australia’s National Events Technical Manager since 2015, Karen is currently overseeing the Australian Open Water Championships in Busselton and most recently played a central role in the delivery of the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Melbourne as the Competition and Technical Officials Manager.

Beginning at the Kennedy Pacific Swimming Club on the Gold Coast in the 1980’s, Karen has held countless officiating and administrative roles at the Club, State, National and International levels of swimming.

She currently serves as Chair of the Technical Committee for Swimming Gold Coast and Technical Manager of Swimming Queensland and has officiated at a number of leading international competitions across her career including FINA World Championships, Commonwealth Games, World Junior Championships and Pan Pacific Championships.

The swimming community is undoubtedly richer for Karen’s involvement and Swimming Australia is both proud and grateful for her ongoing contributions.
