Seven to showcase Swimming's Ultimate Rivalry

Sporting fans around the country will get a front row seat to swimming’s ultimate rivalry next month, with the Duel in the Pool competition between Australia and the USA set to be broadcast on the Seven Network’s digital streaming platform, 7plus.

7plus will broadcast both nights of competition LIVE from the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on August 20 and 21, with the action getting underway from 7pm.

Swimming Australia CEO, Eugénie Buckley, said it was fantastic to continue swimming’s relationship with Seven.

“It’s exciting to see the Seven Network’s enthusiasm to be involved in reigniting this competition, providing a platform to showcase some of the world’s best athletes from two international swimming powerhouses,” Buckley said.

“Some of our sport’s most iconic moments have gone to air on Seven, particularly in our rivalry against the US, and I have no doubt swimming and sporting fans alike will have the opportunity to see more through Seven’s coverage of Duel in the Pool.”

“This will be a swim meet unlike any other, not only in the way we reimagine the pool competition but, more importantly, how we engage the audience, and we are looking forward to working with Seven on an innovative broadcast format that will bring fans closer to the action than ever before.”

Australia has made its competitive intentions clear in naming the first half of its team earlier this week, with the Dolphins to be headlined by Australia’s most successful Olympian, Emma McKeon, alongside fellow Tokyo Gold Medalists and recently crowned World Champions, Kaylee McKeown and Zac Stubblety-Cook.

Managing Director Seven Melbourne and Head of Network Sport, Lewis Martin said: “As Your Home of Sport, we are ecstatic to deliver all the excitement of the Duel in the Pool.

“Off the back of the highly anticipated Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games on Seven and 7plus, there couldn’t be a better time for Australians to dive straight in to Duel in the Pool and support our Aussie swimmers.

“With a user base of more than 12.5 million, off the back of the highly successful Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, 7plus is the place to be for sport content and we are rapt to add the Duel in the Pool to our unrivalled sports offering.

Duel in the Pool will continue an exciting month for both Australia and the Seven Network in the pool, hot on the heels of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games at the beginning of August.
