Staples Leads Dolphins Day 3 Charge at Junior Pan Pacs

Rising star Joshua Staples has added a third Gold medal to his return luggage, leading the Junior Dolphins continued momentum on day 3 of the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Hawaii.

Staples executed a perfect race plan to assert his dominance in the third 100 and never look back, touching first in a new Junior Pan Pacific record of 3:48.36.

Fellow Dolphin Jamie Perkins almost secured the Australian 400m double, finishing just outside American Erin Gemmell to take Silver in 4:06.64.

There were a further three Silver Medals on night 3 of action including:

  • Jesse Coleman in the Men’s 100m Butterfly in a time of 52.23
  • Olivia Wunsch, Hannah Casey, Jamie Perkin and Milla Jansen in the Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay (3.39.04)
  • Flynn Southam, Marcus Da Silva, Anders McAlpine and Jamie Mooney in the Men’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay (3.18.06)

It takes the Junior Dolphins medal tally to 18 through three days of competition, with 5 Gold, 10 Silver and 3 Bronze.
