Achievements

Brendon Smith first represented Australia on the international stage at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships. Here he produced one of the strongest performances for the team, winning a silver in the 400m freestyle and a bronze in the 4x200m relay. In 2021, he was named in his very first senior Dolphins team after competing at the Australian Swimming Trials. Smith qualified for the team with a stellar performance in the 400m IM. Swimming a time of 4:10.04, he set a new Australian record and received his ticket to Tokyo for the Olympics. At his debut appearance in Japan he bettered his Australian record and broke the Commonwealth Record in the heats (4:09.27) and took home the bronze medal in the final - which also marked Australia's first medal for Tokyo Olympics.
