Achievements

Bursting onto the international swimming scene in 2016, Watson qualified for her first Australian team which saw her compete at the Rio Paralympics. In her debut outing as a Dolphin, the Queenslander remarkably claimed a gold medal in the Women’s 50m Freestyle (S4) in a Paralympic record time of 40.13. Not surprisingly, Watson was awarded the ‘AIS Discovery of the Year’ at the 2016 Swimming Australia Gala Dinner and the following year, at her home pool, she broke the world record for the 50m freestyle (S4) - a honour she still holds to this day. Since then, the Chandler Club Captain has continued to go from strength to strength, racking up three medals at the 2018 Para Pan Pacs in Cairns and qualifying for the 2019 World Para Swimming team.
