MESSAGE FROM THE VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT 2022 FINA WORLD SHORT COURSE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS Welcome to Melbourne, Victoria for the 16th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m). Melbourne has long been recognised as the sporting and major events capital of Australia and we are extremely excited to be hosting the prestigious short course event for the first time in Australia. Melbourne is the only city in the world with six international standard sporting venues on the fringe of the central business district, including the famed Melbourne Cricket Ground and Melbourne Park. We’re also the only city in the world to host both a grand slam tennis championship and a round of Formula 1®. And now, we’re proud to also welcome the FINA World Swimming Championships to our great city. Major events are part of the DNA of Victoria, and they attract thousands of travellers each year who come for the show, stay in hotels, eat in our great restaurants, and soak up the unique atmosphere of Melbourne. The Victorian Government is proud to support this great event.
