Event Details

In a first for Australian swimming due to the impacts of COVID-19, the 2020 Australian short course swimming event will be delivered virtually. Providing a competitive racing opportunity for swimmers around Australia, the 2020 Hancock Prospecting Australian Virtual Short Course will allow athletes to measure their times against the best of the best across the country.

Held as close to simultaneously as possible the virtual competition - swum as four session of timed finals will take place in Brisbane (Chandler), Sydney (Warringah), Hobart (Hobart Aquatic Centre), Perth (HBF Stadium) and Melbourne (MSAC subject to COVID restrictions) 

At the end of each session, results will be sent to a centralised platform which will rank the swimmers competing across the country with the final national results to be communicated via Swimming Australia's digital channels.

  • Brisbane Aquatic Centre, QLD
  • DATE: Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November 2020

    SESSION TIMES: To be confirmed 

    EVENT NOTES:

    • Events will be swum as timed finals with the fastest heat swum first
    • Age is taken as at the first day of competition which is Friday 27 November 2020 (due to Perth commencing on Friday), the minimum age is 13 years for females and 14 years for males
    • Please ensure swimmers enter the event in the state in which they will compete (entries for each location will be taken separately) 
    • Qualifying times must be achieved after 1 January 2019
    • Relay entries will be taken on the day, only swimmers competing in an individual event may swim in the relays. 
    • All locations will swim using eight lanes, regardless of whether ten are available
    • MC swimmers are asked to please ensure they check the qualifying times and only enter events they have qualified for

     

  • Warringah Aquatic Centre, NSW
  • DATE: Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November 2020

    * Dates will be confirmed as more information becomes available regarding the Victorian Government return to play roadmap, racing may be required on Friday 27 November to manage the flow of people to ensure the event is delivered in line with government restrictions and capacity limits.
