Colgan joins Swimming Australia High Performance team

Swimming Australia is proud to announce the appointment of former Australian Swimming Team member and experienced High Performance administrator, Teagan Colgan, to Swimming Australia’s High Performance Leadership team.

Colgan commenced her role as General Manager – Performance from today.

With more than a decade’s worth of elite level competition as an athlete, combined with her experience in leading and managing multifaceted High Performance teams across a range of Olympic sports as an administrator, Colgan brings a wealth of knowledge to the role.

Swimming Australia High Performance Director, Tamara Sheppard, welcome the appointment.

“Having experienced both sides of the critical relationship between the athlete and Performance management, Teagan’s unique insight will be an invaluable asset to our team,” Sheppard said.

“We are constantly exploring ways in which we can continue to improve the daily performance environment for our athletes and Teagan will be focussed on driving outcomes to ensure our program remains robust and adaptable on the path to Paris.”

Colgan expressed her excitement at the opportunity to return to swimming.

“My sports career began with swimming and while I enjoyed the diversification in other sports during my administration career, my first love has always been swimming and now, to return full circle I am very excited with this opportunity,” Colgan said.

“The timing is right from a personal perspective, and I genuinely feel I have a lot to offer. I am looking forward to working with old friends, making new ones, and achieving our individual and team goals together.”

Colgan joins Swimming Australia from the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) where she has worked in a variety of roles, including Performance Director and Performance Services Program Manager, since 2015.

A graduate of Griffith University as a tertiary qualified sport manager with a master’s degree in business, Colgan has also completed the Melbourne Business School’s AIS leadership course, as well as the Australian Institute of Company Directors course.
