The Australian Dolphins have capped off a remarkable year with several athletes and coaches recognised with awards around the country for their respective roles in the record-breaking success at the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Emma McKeon was crowned the Queensland Sports Star of the year at the 2021 QSport Awards following her remarkable haul of four gold and three bronze medals in Tokyo.

McKeon beat out an incredibly competitive field of finalists for Queensland’s highest individual sporting honour, including Dolphins teammates Kaylee McKeown, Ariarne Titmus, Zac Stubblety-Cook and Para swimmer William Martin.

O’Callaghan was crowned Junior Sports Star of the Year, while Michael Bohl received the Coach the Year award for his efforts with McKeon and fellow Tokyo medallist Emily Seebohm.

At the New South Wales Institute of Sport Awards, Australia’s most decorated female Paralympian Ellie Cole was awarded the Ian Thorpe AM Outstanding Achievement of the Year Award, with fellow Para swimmer Matthew Levy also won the Academic Excellence award, recognising the outstanding academic performance of an NSWIS athlete while excelling in their chosen sporting field.
