As Swimming Australia’s national events in April draw near, it is excited to announce entries are now open for the 2021 Australian Age Swimming Championships and 2021 Australian Swimming Championships.
Opening this morning via Swim Central from 9am Wednesday 24 February, athletes competing at Age (including open multi-class athletes) will have until noon on Monday 22 March to finalise their entry, while the cut-off for those competing at the Open event will be noon on Tuesday 23 March.
The closing dates have been extended this year to allow swimmers competing on the weekend of 20-21 March an extra chance to qualify.
In a pleasing development for the swimming community, Swimming Australia has also revised the qualifying times for the Open and Age events (excluding multi-class), following the impact of a COVID-19-affected season in 2020. We hope via this thorough process and consideration more swimmers will be able to qualify and compete in the national event. The new QTs can be found here for Age and here for Open.
COVID-Safe Planning and Ticketing
Swimming Australia is working through its COVID-Safe obligations and will communicate more information regarding ticketing to these events in the near future. We appreciate your patience as we navigate these challenges.
While Swimming Australia fully intends to run the events in April, the everchanging landscape due to the global pandemic does require due diligence when it comes to preparing contingencies. Please be aware that Swimming Australia is working with each of its state associations to ensure there is a plan in place if sudden border closures impact the event.
The Championships take place at the Gold Coast Swimming & Aquatic Centre with Age running between 5-12 April – and incorporating the open multi-class competition – followed by the Australian champs which takes place between 14-18 April.
