Let’s Get the Party Started

Swim tribe, let’s get the party started!

The pool is primed and the tunes are set – thanks DJ Louderstein! – for the 2019 Hancock Prospecting Australian Short Course Swimming Championships.

Taking place at Melbourne Sports Centres – MSAC between 24-26 October, the three-day event will see a host of Dolphins and elite swimmers descend on Victoria to fight for national short course titles.

Fresh from competing in South Korea, members of this year’s world championships team will be racing for glory in the 25m pool, including local heroes Mack Horton and Matt Temple, as well as Brianna Throssell, Zac Stubblety-Cook, David Morgan, Kiah Melverton, Jenna Strauch and Bradley Woodward.

In what will be a family-friendly event, the surrounding areas of the outdoor pool will transform into a ‘Greatness on the Green’ interactive fan zone. You can have a hit of table tennis and try your hand at volleyball, or simply sit back and watch the experts flaunt their skills during exhibition matches. The state’s best water polo athletes will also hit the pool and put on a show.

Back by popular demand the much-loved COON toastie truck will return for the finals session on opening night, while there’ll also be sausages sizzling on the barbeque, coffee brewing and drinks at the bar across the duration of the competition.

Touted as the competition’s ‘community night’, Swimming Victoria will showcase their clubs in a curtain raiser event on Friday – an 8x50m mixed freestyle relay – while local legends will be recognised and presented with community awards.

The following day will see a former Aussie swim star take locals through their paces as they undertake a live iSwim set. More details to come, bookings will be essential.

Keeping on the iSwim theme, the iSwim Masters Clubs will take part in a mixed medley relay, which will act as a warm-up act before the main action kicks off at 4pm.
