Fourteen gold medals were awarded on day two of the Australian Multi-Class Swimming Championships at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre on Tuesday morning.
Once again tacking strong winds and sheeting rainfall, a total of 26 races were completed, including timed finals for Age events and heats for Open competitors.
After taking home a gold medal on Monday, Norwood’s Isabella Vincent (S7) added two more MC Age titles to her collection, this time claiming victory in the Girls 11-15yrs 200m Individual Medley Multi-Class and the Girls 15-16yrs 50m Backstroke Multi-Class.
Australian Dolphin Col Pearse (S9) from Kew also showed his dominance in his pet butterfly event, finishing fastest to take home the gold in the Boys 17-18yrs 100m Butterfly Multi-Class. Pearse backed up his performance from last night’s finals session, where he also won the Australian title in the same event for the Open category.
Pearse’s Dolphin teammates were also in action on Tuesday morning vying for pole position for finals tonight. Knox Pymble’s Ellie Cole (S9) qualified fastest in the Women’s 100m Freestyle Mutli-Class while Yeronga Park’s Rowan Crothers (S10) flew down the lane to take prime position this evening.
The action continues tonight at 6:00pm (local time). You can catch every race live from the Gold Coast Swimming & Aquatic Centre on Amazon Prime Video or via SwimTV.

Note: All para races were swum as multi-class races, meaning athletes from all classifications competed in the same event, with the para-swimmer the highest point score crowned the winner.
The Multi-Class Point Score (MCPS) has been developed to provide a simplified way for swimmers and coaches to measure and compare performances. The MCPS is based on the World Record (WR) times for each classification, but also takes into account weightings for non-Paralympic events that are not raced by other countries around the world.
