Aussies on Show in Toronto

With just over 40 days remaining before the opening session of racing at the FINA World Championships (25m) in Melbourne, a number of Dolphins have continued their impressive form on the World Cup circuit as they fine tune their preparations.

FINA’s three stop World Cup series ventured to Toronto over the weekend, with Australians claiming five medals across the meet.

Kyle Chalmers claimed his second 100m Freestyle title in as many weeks, and a fifth consecutive win in the event at World Cups, as the World Record holder produced a typically dominant back end to charge home to victory over Italian Thomas Ceccon and American Brooks Curry.

Chalmers also took the Bronze medal in a highly competitive 50m Freestyle final behind Dylan Carter and Curry.

Matt Temple secured his first medal of the series in his pet event, finishing just short of South African Chad Le Clos in the Men’s 100m Butterfly final.

Both Madi Wilson and Meg Harris also each carried their momentum from the previous week in Berlin, claiming Bronze in the 200m and 50m Freestyle finals respectively.

Chalmers now sits 6th in the Men’s individual rankings through the first two meets, with Wilson 8th in the Women’s rankings.

The 2022 FINA World Cup series now travels to Indianapolis for the third and final leg from November 3-5.
