Australia Poised for Showstopper Night Two

Australian swimmers are set for an actioned packed evening at Birmingham’s Sandwell Aquatics Centre aiming for the podium in nine medal races.

A trio of Aussies, Abbey Harkin, Chelsea Hodges and Jenna Strauch line up in the first Australian event on the night, the Women’s 50m Breaststroke. Hodges comes in as the third fastest swimmer from heats chasing down Canada’s Imogen Louise Clarke and Lara van Niekerk of South Africa.

Swimming from Lane 4 Elijah Winnington will be joined by seven-time Commonwealth Games Medallist Mack Horton in the Men’s 200m Freestyle Final. Winnington will look to make it two golds from two nights at the Games.

The Men’s 50m Freestyle S13 will be packed with Australians with Oscar Stubbs, Braedan Jason and Jacob Templeton all donning the gold cap in the race. Jason comes in as the top seed with Stubbs and Templeton swimming from lanes 2 and 5 respectively.

As with the Men’s, the Women’s 50m Freestyle S13 final will see three Dolphins in the pool with Kirralee Hayes, Katja Dedekind and Jenna Jones. Dedekind is the fast qualifier in the race that will serve as her Commonwealth Games debut

Brianna Throssell, Emma McKeon and Alex Perkins race in the Women’s 100m Butterfly the Men’s 100m Backstroke featuring Bradley Woodward, Mitch Larkin and Josh Edwards-Smith swimming side by side from lanes 6-8.

Both the Australian Men’s and Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relays will start in pole position to close out night two at the pool.
