Day 7 Finals: Barclay continues her dominance at Age Nationals

OLYMPIC hopeful Jaclyn Barclay (pictured, St Peters Western) continued her dominance through the backstroke ranks, cruising to victory in the Girls 17 years 100m backstroke at Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.

Barclay, a World Junior champion,  clocked 1:00.19 ahead of Inez Miller (Fenix, 1:01.66) and Eve Heijnen (Churchie, 1:03.92) to win gold at the Australian Age Championships.

For Barclay it was her third title in her age group and an important hit out ahead of next week’s Open Championships.

Also collecting her third consecutive age group title was Lillie McPherson (Manly, coach Justin Rothwell) in the Girls 15 Years 100m butterfly.

McPherson touched the wall in 1:00.54 with Rhianna Chen (DVE Aquatic, 1:02.21) second and Tribeca Liu (Griffith University, 1:02.73) third.
