In Future We Trust: Swimmers join Pho3nix Future camp on GC

The Pho3nix Foundation returns to the Gold Coast, Australia to present the much-awaited Pho3nix Future Camp from the 2nd to 6th April 2024.

This five-day, fully funded camp brings together 16 exceptionally talented junior athletes to empower them and give them the tools, assistance, and inspiration necessary to take the next step into a career in professional sport and unlock their full potential.

Taking the helm at the Pho3nix Future Camp Gold Coast is MANA Global sports director and Commonwealth Games gold and Olympic 400m relay silver medallist John Steffensen alongside Australian Ironman Hall of Fame member and 15-time iron distance triathlon champion Belinda Granger.

An esteemed lineup of mentors and special guests are set to enrich the camp experience.

Among them are Olympic gold medallists in canoe sprint Ken Wallace and Tom Green, two-time Olympic bronze medal swimmer Alex Graham, swimming short course gold medallist Jenna Strauch, and para-swimming world champion and Pho3nix-supported athlete Alexa Leary (pictured).

The athletes – ten girls and six boys ages 15 to 18 – hail from 12 sports: athletics, javelin, motorsport, rowing, middle-distance and cross-country running, tennis, trampoline gymnastics, triathlon, surf lifesaving, surfing and weightlifting.

Each day of the Pho3nix Future Camp promises unparalleled opportunities for learning as participants engage with world-class athletes, mentors, and business leaders.

The Gold Coast camp features sessions covering performance nutrition, goal-setting and planning, sponsorships, and public speaking and media training, alongside team-building activities and a visit to the Australian Institute of Sport.

The camp will culminate at the free Pho3nix Kids Gold Coast Triathlon, providing participants and mentors with a chance to give back to the sporting community through volunteering.

Pho3nix Future Camp is part of the Pho3nix Future Program, which identifies and assists promising juniors to help them with both athletic and life skills as they pursue a career in professional sport.
